Map Help (in preparation)
Navigation
A number of views are pre-defined within the map, and these can be accessed via the drop down menu which will initially show 'Startup extent'. Beyond these pre-defined views, navigation is achieved with the following tools:

Selection & Information

Select Use this tool to drag a rectangle or click an object on the map to find further information. If objects from more than one layer are clicked, choose which layer you are interested in from the pop up box. If several objects or a single object without a web link are selected, a pop up box will give further information on those objects. If a single object with a web link is selected, a new window will open with further information on that object. |

Rollover tips With this tool selected, hovering over items in the map that have further linked information will provide a brief description of that object. |
Layers
The layers of information within the map are listed down the left hand side of the map window. Each layer will have a symbol immediately to the left, which may change depending on where you are on the map, and how far in or out you have zoomed.

The active layer will be highlighted in white, and it is this layer which can be searched and will provide rollover descriptions. Click a layer name to make it active.
Layer legends can be expanded to show a key to the layer elements. Some layers (eg. 'archaeological features') will also show classification sub-layers which can be turned on or off.
Search

Search Some layers within the map are searchable. If the active layer is searchable, the text to the left of this tool will give an indication of which database field can be searched. Any objects matching your search text will be displayed in a pop up box, from which further details may be available via the link button. |
