Topography & Environment
The
Thornborough Henges are situated within a monument
complex in the low lying land between the River Ure and River Swale. This complex
extends from The Devil's Arrows at Boroughbridge in the south, perhaps as far
as Catterick Henge in the north. The wider landscape topography is illustrated
at right, showing lowland in dark green progressing to the highest ground shown
in brown.
The
local topography around the Thornborough Henges is shown in greater detail
to the left; this time the lowest areas are shown in blue, through green and
orange to the highest ground in brown.
