Diary entry for 2007-02-20 Posted by Guy
animated sequenceThree test pits have been established today to continue the monitoring of potential plough damage to archaeological features. In order to continue the previous test pit numbering system, these have been designated test pits F, G and H. All three were one metre square, excavated to the top of subsoil, with an 80 centimetre sondage excavated within the test pit to a depth of four centimetres. Two layers of coloured glass chippings (the first green, the second white), each two centimetres in depth, were then carefully laid in the sondage and the pit backfilled and compacted (see animated sequence to right).

Further details will be posted once the ground surface has been inspected after ploughing, and the results will be published as an APC Occasional Paper.
