Lincolnshire: Desk Based Assessment
Desk based assessment of a rural site on the Lincolnshire Marshes, previously used as a gypsum lagoon

London: Fox & Anchor London: Fox & Anchor

: Historic Building Appraisal
Historical appraisal and initial assessment of the Fox and Anchor Public House, Charterhouse Street, Islington.

The desk-based assessment has indicated that a Fox and Anchor public house was present on the site prior to the construction of the facade in 1898 and that some elements of an earlier 19th century structure may survive within the current fabric. The assessment also highlighted the significance of the building's facade and the contribution by its designer, W.J. Neatby, to the listing of the building in 1972.

Poole: The Mansion House Poole: The Mansion House

Dorset: Desk Based Assessment
Desk based assessment on behalf of the Hotel Du Vin for the Mansion House, Poole, Dorset

The desk based assessment identified the potential for below ground archaeological deposits relating to the medieval waterfront within the boundary of the site. The current buildings are of a 18th and 19th century date and are all listed.
The western boundary of the site comprises a Scheduled Ancient Monument and is listed as Town Walls West of Thames Street . It would appear more likely that the walls are the standing remains of a boundary wall related to a large house in the 16th century referred to in archive documents of the period. It is likely that archaeological deposits relating to this building are present within the boundary of the site

Sheffield: Klaussners Site Sheffield: Klaussners Site

South Yorkshire: Desk Based Assessment

The investigation of cartographic and documentary sources identified a number of historic metal trade buildings and associated structures that once stood within the boundaries of the site between the 18th and 20th centuries. These included the Chantrey Works (later known as Crown Steel Works), the Porter Foundry and the southern range of the Sylvester Works. In addition to metal trade buildings the desk based assessment also identified former lines of the Porter Brook which had been excavated and remodelled on a number of occasions in the 19th century. At least two backfilled goits relating to this work have been identified within the site boundary.

Sheffield: Portland Works Sheffield: Portland Works

South Yorkshire: Desk Based Assessment

Examination of the Ordnance Survey evidence shows that the plan of the current Portland Works, and hence much of its structural configuration, remains essentially unchanged from the original late 19th-century building. This is confirmed by visual assessment of the site. For this reason it has been assigned a Grade II listing.
Limited examination of the building indicates that few if any fittings/machinery or other devices related to the original function of the works survive in situ. The significance of the building lies in its persisting historical layout and plan form.

North Yorkshire: Building Assessment & evaluation
A scheme of archaeological evaluation was undertaken for Bellway Homes (Yorkshire) Ltd

Results from the evaluation suggested the presence of a Roman road postulated from the presence of a Roman ditch interpreted as a flanking ditch. Residual Roman pottery and cremated human bone also suggested the presence of a Roman cemetery disturbed by later Roman and medieval activity
