Sarcophagus Excavation (canceled)

The recently discovered sarcophagi from 89 The Mount, York, is scheduled to be excavated on the 28th August, 2007. This is one of two gypsum burials currently being investigated by Mike Griffiths and Associates, and may provide valuable insights into this little understood burial practice.
Excavation of the sarcophagus began at midday today (28th) but due to telecommunications problems we were unable to show the excavation progress online. An update will be posted in the near future regarding this work.
