Watching Brief, 2001. Summary Details
Fieldwork October to November 2001
An area of flat peaty ground cleared, thin patches of marl, ground conditions wet with patches of standing water.
Intervention 5 nw Few remains mapped, they consisted of land drains (the continuation of features mapped in Int.5 NE), linear features, aligned N-S, ditches and old hedge lines running down to the main drain along the northern boundary of the site.
Pits scattered over the area but away from the standing water.
A few natural features (tree boles) mapped but not excavated.
A few finds (pot and flint).
Area of W/B extended south to cover small area required for installation of new processing site, installed in winter 2001.
