Core Auger Survey, 2003. Summary Details
Fieldwork August 2003
Intervention 7 Part one of an assessment of the remaining area of the Flasks to the north and east of the quarry processing plant.
Part two was a topographic survey (Intervention 9).
The auger survey base upon a grid of 20m suqares, the area was augered to a depth of 1.50m to create a deposit map.
Deposits and sediments described with Munsell colour.
Two locations later selected by Mairead Rutherford and J Innes (Geography Dept, Durham University, Swale/Ure Washlands Project) for detailed study.
Sediments from core samples reported.
Output Auger record cards (1-216).
Maps showing location of auger holes, depth of deposits, the location of areas of peat and marl.
