Fieldwork | September 2003. Two trenches at the Flasks to investigate two types of anomalies. |
---|---|
Intervention 8 Trench A |
Trench A was positioned on a large prominent mound to
test whether it was geological. Results demonstrated that the mound was geological. It was subsequently box sectioned to make sure the results were unequivocal. A feature was recorded on the top of the mound, a dump of burnt stones. |
Intervention 8 Trench B |
Trench B was positioned across a narrow channel on the
flat ground. The channel was probably an erosion gully, it sat between two types of subsoil, to the east marl and to the west gravel. The peat was in a poor, dessicated condition. Excavation produced a small collection of flint work, post-med pottery and a nail. |
